About Us
Mission
To provide programs for youth, ages
11 to 18, which will enhance their SPACE (social/spiritual, physical, academic,
character, and emotional) development.

Vision
Our participants will excel academically, respect self
and others, be self-supporting, self-sufficient, community volunteers,
positive role models and productive citizens.

Program Initiative
YLCO provides an array of programs during monthly meetings to address the needs of our participants. Through one to one mentoring sessions and group activities, participants increase their knowledge and understanding of everyday issues. Topics of discussion include:
-
Career development, drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, conflict resolution, self-esteem building, personal health, developing healthy relationships, dining etiquette, volunteerism, career development, educational achievement and cultural enrichment.

Objectives
-
To encourage academic proficiency
-
To promote higher education and/or career aspirations
-
To provide opportunities for community service
-
-
To discourage risky behaviors
-
To promote positive decision-making

Accomplishments
-
Our participants have demonstrated behavior improvement, less disciplinary referrals, increased community service, better self-esteem and academic improvement.
-
Due to the overwhelming demand to serve young men, Young Leaders Conquering Obstacles was created in January 2008.
